I had a beautiful family reach out to me wanting photos documenting their adoption story. While they already have two beautiful little girls their hearts yearns for more children. I can't say that I blame them. I love the sound of little feet pitter pattering and their adorable giggles, and their amazing snuggles! As we all know childhood is a fleeting memory that we all wish we could push the pause button on. In merely a blink of an eye they are grown and have kids of their own! That's why it is so important to document their lives. It's nice to have photos to look back on and remember all of the fun that you've had as a family!
This beautiful family really wanted a photo that would capture the heart of a birth mom who was making the difficult decision to have a family adopt her precious bundle of joy. After many great ideas we decided on placing a rocking chair in the photo to symbolize their new baby being a part of their family. A sign was placed in the center of the family stating that we are adopting. Let's be honest it's not just the mom and dad who are adopting, their little girls are adopting as well. It is very important to include everyone in your family that way everyone is super excited and feels included in this amazing process.
I'd like to say that this process is easy and that your heart is never shattered but that is not always the case. In the case of this family there were many ups and downs. There were many tears shed. It was an emotional rollercoaster that they thought would never end happily. Their village of family and friends rallied around them, loving them, supporting them any way that they could. There was an amazing outcry of support for this family to bring home their special bundle of joy. Even with all of the support in the world their hearts were continually hurt. They waited and waited hoping to hear the words "you have been chosen". Time after time they were passed up by another couple who was in their shoes. Always keeping in mind that maybe that baby isn't ours. That is really hard for anyone to hear time and time again. Still they kept their faith strong and held their heads as high as they possible could trying not to get discouraged.
Every time they thought that they would be chosen the birth mom ultimately decided to go with a different family. The struggle was intense! They spent many days and nights on their knees crying out to God to give them the gift of another child. They know what a sacrifice the mom is making by placing her baby for adoption. They do not take her decision lightly. They realize that it is the most difficult decision a mom could ever make. I could never imagine what these moms are going through and how hard it is for them.
Months went by, then a year, then two years and still they had not been chosen. They became extremely discouraged and felt defeated. They started looking into other options outside of domestic infant adoption. They thought that maybe that wasn't the direction God wanted them to go. They started pursuing becoming foster parents. They researched what they would need to do to become foster parents. All kids need and deserve a good home and they love kids so much! They just want a house full of kids to love!
At this time they were almost chosen to adopt a baby and their hopes and dreams quickly came crashing down when the birth mom shockingly chose another couple at the last minute. At that point they took their sadness to diving deeper in the foster care process. Then, in the beginning of February 2022 she was on her knees crying out to God for a clear answer to what direction they should go. They were started the Foster care training program that evening. Within minutes of that prayer she received a life changing phone call. Her adoption agency had a birth mom who had a baby boy the day before and she absolutely whole heartly loved this family and chose them to be her babies family.
The tears of joy were overwhelming and the decision had to be made quickly. Within 4 hours of getting that phone call her and her husband jumped on a flight to go meet their son! It was definitely a whirl wind of a day. Isn't God amazing? The power of prayer is real! Their prayers had been answered and for that we all rejoiced! After several days sweet little one was released from the hospital. I was asked if I would fly out to take his newborn photos I had one day to prepare. You better believe I jumped on a flight and took almost my whole studio with me. The birth mom and the adoptive mom both had specific request and I made sure I did them all. Mickey Mouse is the births mom favorite Disney character and the adoptive mom really wanted woodland themed and wrapped photos. Baby was already 2 weeks old by the time I got to take his photos but my oh my look how lovely they turned out! Isn't he simply beautiful and perfect in every way. From his Luscious hair, long eye lashes, perfect little lips all the way down to his precious little toes! We are simply in awe of him and love him so much!
He even got to go on his first trip to Disney World and meet Mickey Mouse in person!
